When you don’t create (but you want to)

pasion and authentic life“The Soul needs to create and give”

“If the creative energy is not expressed – it turns into a destructive force.”  This message has been mentioned in many ancient texts.

Are you a Free Spirit who got stuck in the “safe and secure” version of life? Do you find it hard to justify making art?

Or maybe your gifts were not encouraged and not supported.

There are consequences to ignoring your gifts. Regrets, bitterness, disappointment in yourself.  Wasted resources and potential. You may think that your ideas are too big to be realized, so it makes no sense to start. But you know and I know – to deny the talents turns into real pain.  In the end you’ll ask yourself  “Did I do what really mattered?”  If you have the Artist / Creative Archetype : what matters is to create.

It doesn’t matter how big the idea and how small your first actions towards it. Big things are small actions glued together with your Vision. “Big” could be the sense of freedom that comes from simply singing a song. No, it does not have to make you a fortune. If you make money the goal, you will lose the sense of play, which is the key to creativity.

The dangers are all preventable. In fact, ONE day can make a difference.  The conclusion of the article is: JUST DO IT!

Here is the longer version:

The consequences of not creating:

1. Compromised self-esteem

When an artist ignores the inner need to paint, dance, sing, sculpt, and build – the gift is wasted, and – naturally – the self-esteem of the person suffers – because she spends her time on things that have no meaning to her.

2. Wasted life force.

We waste our time, energy, and talents on things that deplete us, on work that makes us sick.   What may seem a small compromise, over time, turns into a depression, a spiritual crisis.

In the past, I thought art did not serve others. Now I actually believe: design is one of the most important things in the world. Beauty in all forms uplifts our hearts and spirit.

Our job is to create. It is not our job to control how others feel about it.

3. Engaging in something negative and destructive

Creativity turns against us through destructive behavior or negative emotions if not channeled into constructive work.

Caroline Myss, in “Sacred Contracts”, writes about an artist who diminished his creativity and his inner calling and, at the same time, talked negatively about every single other artist. (Though not expressed in art,  his creative energy was translated to being negative about others.)

A woman I once knew had a passion for fashion. Her creativity and talent could help others to look better. Yet she concentrated daily on criticizing others’ outfits. But the mismatched outfit was an opportunity for her creativity to flourish.

When I “gave up” on art, I felt sadness and deep disappointment with myself and a sense of wasted time.

The above are just innocent examples of “destruction.”

If you feel that creativity is your PURPOSE, you can start today. You do not have to wait for years to enjoy playing with art. It does not need to be serious and it’s better if it is not. The best things are created when you engage with lightness and play.

I can help you start creating and managing your emotions and obstacles that get in the way of the creative flow.
