Ep 20. Know what you want and stop talking yourself out of it

You can listen to this PositivelyRebellious podcast on Apple podcasts, Amazon Podcasts, and many other platforms.

In this episode:

  • There are times in life when we don’t know what we want. (Is this because of some unmet emotional issues, depression, or lack of belief?)
  • What happens in the first hypnotherapy or coaching session? The client knows what she doesn’t want; she has practiced that part well, by living it. But she can’t fully connect with what the improvement looks like yet.  After each hypnosis session, things start to change… Gradual changes and improvements help her declare what she wants; she starts seeing it as possible. She now believes it.
  • Exercise in meditative journaling.
  • Why don’t we commit entirely to what we want?
  • 1) We don’t BELIEVE you will make it happen. (make it believable, but still exciting) Believe more (this scares people because they don’t want to be disappointed. but.. disappointment is not a big price to pay if for sure we will get something great on the way to the goal.)
  • 2) We don’t want to work that hard.
  • 3)The goal is not really your goal but someone else’s.
  • 4) We are afraid of failure. Specifically, the feelings that come after failure. (I made a video for you if you are afraid of being stuck in negative emotions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ygc7TFC6ChM

How do we talk ourselves out of our goals?

  • A story of a woman who did not talk herself out of what she wanted, which was a good job and a new relationship, without compromises.
  • First way: “I don’t deserve it.”
  • Second way: “This is selfish”
  • Third way: All-or-nothing thinking. I want it but I can’t because
  • Forth way: you don’t want to upset someone in your life, You are afraid what will they say, You are afraid to lose them even though they are not good for you.

There is always a possibility for an awakening and realization you can have it, you can claim it.

Coaching and hypnotherapy for emotional well-being, creativity, weight loss, reinventions…
