No time to lose: train your brain to think on purpose

“When the sh%* hits the fan it’s already too late.” Too late to train your brain.

Seriously. This is a profound truth that I realized when something big happened.

I had already been coaching and self-coaching for several years, which meant I was observing what my thinking created and changing it intentionally.  I knew how to navigate my emotional state and actions – of course, not perfectly – but to a greater degree.

And then something big happened. Then another. And I saw how people reacted.

It’s one thing to REACT to sudden news etc,  it’s another to stay in that reaction. When you know what to do with emotions and how to RESPOND to external and internal influences, you become more grounded, centered, and in control.

You become the captain of your ship instead of being thrown left and right by every storm.

  • But it takes time to get there.
  • It takes time to realize that our thinking contributes significantly to unnecessary pain.
  • It takes time to train our brains to think helpful thoughts.
  • It takes time to know how to separate facts from opinions and thoughts.
  • It takes time to catch that these painful emotions came from errors in thinking. Not from reality.
  • It takes time to embody the skills, have the awareness, and act on it in the moment.

All those skills are best learned and practiced when things are relatively calm.  So when the sh%^& actually hits the fan, when there is a big conflict, big life’s event – you are ready:

  • You can pull yourself out of it,
  • You stop causing pain for others.
  • You let go of unnecessary shame, guilt, sense of rejection, etc.
  • You can understand that some pain is inevitable; you don’t try to escape it, creating more pain. Instead, you know what to do.
  • This way, you have your own back, because you are the captain of your mind.
  • You direct yourself to calm waters, not to another storm.

When the sH^% hits the fan, it’s already too late, but it’s never too late to look within, without fear, and do some mental remodeling.

This is what life coaching (mind management) helps us with. Think and act on purpose.

It takes time, which is why coaching programs are typically 6-12 months or longer.  You want to have someone on your side to help you create self-awareness like never before. There are no shortcuts to high-value thinking. Schedule a call with me and see how you can benefit from coaching now:   https://www.calendly.com/jopr
